DANIEL HINRICHS, Member since 1993
Attorney at Law
Mr. Hinrichs is a local attorney who practices general law, specializing in wills and estates. He served for many years as AYA’s board chair and has been a board member since the 1990s.
KAREN TAYLOR, Secretary-Treasurer, since 2007
Ms. Taylor holds a Master’s Degree in Community Education with TESOL certification.. She teaches part-time at Southwestern Oregon Community College & Shutter Creek Correctional Institution. She has served on the board for 13 years.
CHRIS CHAPANAR, Member, since 2008
Captain Chapanar became involved with AYA when he led a team of police officers who worked with our students to put new siding on the building that housed our court school program. Although that program is no longer in operation, Captain Chapanar joined our board in 2008. Captain Chapanar is the Operations Captain for Coos Bay Police Department.
ALICE CARLSON, Board Chair since 2014
Retired Teacher/ Administrator
Ms. Carlson taught special education and language arts in high schools throughout the state, and served as an Assistant Principal. She has also taught at Southwestern Oregon Community College. She previously taught at AYA and served as the organization’s Executive Director for seven years.

Program Manager, Southwestern Oregon Workforce Investment Board (SOWIB)
Kyle Stevens joined SOWIB as the Program Manager in May of 2016. Kyle grew up in North Bend, OR and brings his local knowledge to the SOWIB team. Previously Kyle worked in Healthcare and Manufacturing. He received his BS in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management in 2006 and his MS in Supply Chain Management in 2014, both from the University of Alaska.

Andrew has lived in Coos Bay almost all his life, except for 5 years in Florence.
Andrew is an active member of the following Boards: Executive Secretary for the Coos Elderly Services, President of the Senior Fair of Coos County, Election Board of CTCLUSI, Resident of the South Coast SEA League, Coos Housing Access, trustee for United Way of Southwestern Oregon, Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and Board member o the Coos Bay Church of Christ.
